Le Prieuré from the South
Le Prieuré has been extremely well preserved and thus retains much of the original character. Come through the wrought iron gates, walk across the ancient cobbled courtyard, open the enormous front door and enter this fabulous home. In the welcoming entrance hall with it's well worn flagstones, a wide stone spiral staircase will take you up to the first floor. Here you will find 17th Century floors and original fireplaces which adorn all the bedrooms on the first floor. There are many other features throughout the house reminiscent of a bygone age.

The secluded garden is really charmimg. A great way to start the day is to sit on the terrace having breakfast, enjoying the stunning views across to Monflanquin and on to the Lot valley. In the evening relax with a glass of delicious wine and watch the magnificent sunset.

Since the Autumn of 2005 Le Prieuré has been under new ownership and has undergone an extensive redecoration and refurbishment programme of a very high standard. Thoughtfully and tastefully done, it is now both elegant and extremely comfortable and is the ideal place from which to explore this beautiful area of France. The sitting room is a perfect place for those pre-dinner drinks or a quiet read of a book and in winter the stone fireplace with a wonderful log fire becomes even more inviting. The dining room, with it's beautiful stone walls, oozes atmosphere whilst you enjoy a candle lit dinner cooked by our chef.

All our bedrooms have their own special identity and we pride ourselves on our attention to detail. The rooms are large with 10 foot ceilings in all rooms on the 1st floor with breathtaking views to the south west. Each room has a sitting area where you can make use of the tea and coffee making facilities provided and all are equipped with cooling fans for summer. Set on a hill at the foot of the majestic Chateau de Biron in the Dordogne, South-West France, Le Prieuré offers you a truly memorable stay in a wonderful building steeped in history. It was built between 1499 and 1512 by the owner of Chateau de Biron as a home for the 6 priests who took care of his domain. It was believed that this grand gesture would ensure his place in Heaven.
