Culture
Southwest France abounds with culture, from the famous opera at Bordeaux, and the symphony and ballet. Many theaters and concerts (held inside and outside in magnificent settings) dominate even the smallest villages of the area. Expositions of local and regional artists are everywhere, including at Chateau Biron and le Prieuré. Local restaurants also mix culture with cuisine - both musically and artistically. Their ancient stone walls feature works of art for purchase at extremely reasonable prices. Jewelry and pottery (including Limoges) are available in every village. Of course the prices are far better here than at anywhere else in Europe or the United States.
Fetes or fairs are held in local villages and towns throughout the year and are great fun. Moreover they provide a wonderful way to experience French tradition and culture at first hand.
